Different types of ASTM A182 Flange Grades

ASTM A182 Flange:

ASTM A182 is a standard specification for high-temperature forged and rolled alloy and stainless steel pipe flanges, fittings, valves, and components. Alloy steel grades include F5, F9, F11, F22, and stainless steel grades F304/L and F316/L. Western Steel Agency is a top ASTM A182 Flanges Manufacturer in Mumbai, India. ASTM A182 WNRF Flange is made with care and high-quality raw materials. The products of ASTM A182 Flange are developed and designed in compliance with international quality standards. ASTM A182 Flanges are one of our most popular products in the Metal Market.

Common Grades

Alloy grade: ASTM A182 F5, F9, F91, F92, F11, F12, F21, F22
Stainless steel grade: ASTM A182 F304, F304L, F316, F316L

ASTM A182 F316 Flange

When utilized in intermittent service applications at 870°C, ASTM A182 F316 flange has strong oxidation resistance. When using the A182 F316 flange in a continuous service application, the suggested temperature is around 925°C. Grade 316 stainless steel is austenitic stainless steel. It is one of the most widely used alloys, second only to 304 in terms of commercial importance. Stainless steel grade 316 has an increased molybdenum content, which improves the alloy’s corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride environments where general corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion prevail.

ASTM A182 F316L Flange

The material ASTM A182 F316L is a typical molybdenum-bearing grade stainless steel. Among the austenitic stainless steel grades, the alloy is only second to 304 insignificance. In comparison to grade 304, molybdenum offers SA182M grade F316L higher overall corrosion resistance. Flange ASTM A182 F316L  is commonly considered the industry standard for “marine grade stainless steel.” The ASTM A182 grade F316L, on the other hand, is not resistant to warm seawater. Surface corrosion occurs in many maritime situations where 316l SS flanges are used. Surface corrosion is often evident as brown stains, which is especially common in cracks and rough surface finishes.

ASTM A182 F304 Flange

ASTM A182 F304 Flanges were simply cleaned using a light detergent. Despite being subjected to numerous cleaning operations, these flanges will not wear away, owing to their high wear resistance. Further, because grade 304 is an alloy that can be easily molded into a variety of forms, it can be easily made into any sort of ASME SA182 F304 Pipe Flange, such as a weld neck flange.

The mechanical parameters of the Stainless Steel 304 Flanges covered by the standard include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and Brinell hardness values. Apart from being a versatile alloy, many manufacturers prefer employing grade 304 to build ASTM A182 F304 WNRF Flange because it reduces the cost of the application when compared to other alloy grades such as 316.
